San Mateo United Code of Conduct

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to ensure that all members of San Mateo United—players, coaches, parents, and volunteers—act in a manner that promotes a positive and respectful environment for everyone involved in our soccer community.

Sportsmanship

  • Players:
    • Exhibit respect for opponents, teammates, coaches, referees, and spectators.
    • Play fair and adhere to the rules of the game.
    • Celebrate victories with humility and accept losses with grace.
  • Coaches:
    • Lead by example, demonstrating fair play and respect at all times.
    • Encourage players to support each other and recognize the efforts of all team members.
  • Parents:
    • Model positive behavior and sportsmanship at all games and practices.
    • Support your child’s participation and effort regardless of the outcome.

Respect

  • Players:
    • Treat teammates and coaches with respect and kindness, fostering a supportive team environment.
    • Listen to and follow the instructions of coaches and referees.
  • Coaches:
    • Treat players, parents, and fellow coaches with respect, fostering an inclusive and encouraging atmosphere.
    • Provide constructive feedback and recognize players’ efforts and achievements.
  • Parents:
    • Respect the coaching staff and their decisions regarding player development and team strategy.
    • Communicate any concerns respectfully and directly with coaches or club officials.

Discipline

  • Players:
    • Understand that poor behavior may result in disciplinary action, including warnings, suspensions, or expulsion from the team.
    • Take responsibility for your actions on and off the field.
  • Coaches:
    • Maintain a positive and structured environment while holding players accountable for their behavior.
    • Address disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, in alignment with the club’s policies.
  • Parents:
    • Support disciplinary actions taken by coaches and the club to maintain a positive environment.
    • Avoid confrontations with officials, coaches, or players during games or practices.

Acknowledgment

By participating in San Mateo United, all members acknowledge their understanding of and commitment to this Code of Conduct. Violations may lead to disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership.
